Sandra Boynton's first
plush animals were designed for Carousel. She did the Zippopotamus for them,
and a series of bears in various sizes with different names. I haven't seen
any duplication of names, but I have seen the same bear with different names,
so I'm leaning toward the opinion that each bear had a unique name. There
was also a series of moose without her name on them, but who look very much
like her designs.
I would like to thank Brian Kelley, a toy seller on eBay, for the moose
pictures! He sells lots of neat plush and other toys there. You can link

THE ZIPPOPOTAMUS! |
This is a children's backpack, with a zipper in the back, and a
zipper mouth. There were several different color combinations of the Zippopotamus. I have three shown here. Tag reads: "Official ZIPPOPOTAMUS by BOYNTON Guaranteed Not To Bite" I would like to thank Brian Kelley of eBay, who pointed out that these were made by Carousel, and not by Recycled Paper Products, so I could put them on the right page. |

The moose do not say "Sandra Boynton" on them anywhere; however, they do have the same "look and feel" as the other Sandra Boynton items, so I have included them here. I do note that the eyes are oval, rather than round, so that may count against them. If anyone knows for sure, please let me know. |

Murphy Moose (1985) 16" tall Murphy was originally an advertisement for Seagram's Canadian Hunter (Mellow Canadian Sipping Whiskey). He had tags to that effect sewn onto his front legs. He also had a plaid hunter's cap. |
