Pennsylvania Dutch hex signs and motifs, and six-pointed embroidery-like stars, orange/brown on white, or plain orange or brown on white. This pattern seems to have changed over the time it was in production. I don't know when the color combinations changed, or if the differnt combinations were in production at the same time, but I do have a copy of an ad from 1963 (probably from introduction) showing the Color Bowl Set (#300) without the largest bowl, and the three smallest bowls in both sets being solid colors. More than one version of the two styles of bowl sets (#300, #400 and #404) exist. On introduction, the color bowl set (#300) contained only three bowls, solid yellow, orange and brown, largest to smallest. The Cinderella bowls were the same, but with four bowls, the largest (#444) having the orange and brown pattern. A little later, the largest bowl of the nesting bowl set (#404) was introduced with the orange and brown pattern. The round casseroles in this set were the six-pointed stars in brown on an orange, white, or yellow background. One version appears to have had the plain brown pattern on at least the largest casserole (#483), with a solid brown lid. All other casseroles I've seen in this pattern came with clear glass lids. The oval casseroles had the orange an brown pattern, and came with clear glass lids. The divided casserole #963 also came in two versions - one with the orange/brown pattern and one with the plain brown pattern. This casserole came with a clear glass divided lid. The refrigerator dish set came with the largest (#503) with the brown pattern, the middle #502 with the pattern in orange, and the small #501 in brown. Another version had them in solid colors, yellow to brown, largest to smallest. |
