CRAZY DAISY and SPRING BLOSSOM GREEN
Or, what's in a name?

Ah, just show me the pattern!

There is some controversy about the names of these two patterns. Some people call it Crazy Daisy, some call it Spring Blossom Green. Teri Ford sent me an email saying that these were actually two patterns with different names (see her picture above). She said she has the pattern on the left (with the small flowers) still in its original box, and the box says Spring Blossom Green. Note that the greens are different - the smaller pattern's bowls are more green, while the larger pattern's bowls are more olive-toned.

I saw an auction for a couple of Spring Blossom Green bowls with their box on eBay Auctions. These appeared to be the pattern on the RIGHT. I emailed the seller to see if he could send me a better picture of the box, so that both the name and the pattern would show. He sent me two, plus pictures of two of the bowls to show the pattern. I would like to thank Gene (farmlandmi on eBay - check him out!) for his time and trouble. The bowls, indeed, were the pattern on the right (see his pictures below).

So, what does it all mean? The controversy still isn't over. I have yet to see (or hear about) a box with the name "Crazy Daisy" on it, so I'm going to stick to my opinion that the name of the pattern is - and always has been - Spring Blossom Green. Pyrex must have redesigned the pattern at some point. I note that the Corelle pattern of the same name has elements of the design on the right (see the last two pictures), so perhaps they redesigned the Pyrex pattern when they made the Corelle. Note that the Corelle doesn't have the three-leaf cluster from the small pattern, but it does have the fan-shaped leaf cluster from the larger (newer) pattern.

So why is the URL for this page crazydaisy.htm? Because it's easier to type, that's why.

SPRING BLOSSOM GREEN

Solid and outlined five-petalled flowers and leaves, green on white and reverse. Casseroles in this pattern came with clear glass lids or a patterned lid, green on white. An alternate pattern was produced with clusters of three leaves, and came white on dark green and lighter greens. Casseroles in the alternate pattern came with clear glass lids.
The smaller flower pattern I have seen in only the nesting bowl sets and the round casseroles. More pieces were apprently made when the pattern was redesigned with the larger flowers.
